Fifty-three Horses Move Forward After First Horse Inspection at the 2017 NAJYRC

All but one of the 54 horses presented to the Ground Jury of Wayne Quarles (USA), Nikki Hebert (GB), and Helen Christie (NZL) this afternoon at the 2017 Adequan/FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC) will continue to compete after the first horse inspection.

The long road to Montana was conquered, jogs were passed and teams were selected so competition could officially get underway at the 2017 Adequan/FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC) with dressage. Thirty-five horses entered the arena today, representing seven teams from the United States and Canada in the CH-J* at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Mont.

The USEA Classic Series offers competitors the opportunity to compete in the traditional long-format of three-day-eventing at the Beginner Novice through Preliminary levels.

Team Canada held onto their lead in the Adequan/FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC) CICOY2* after cross-country today. Three of the four team riders jumped around clear with just a bit of time against them, and only one had trouble on course with jumping penalties, for a cumulative team score of 180.8.

The USEA Classic Series Three-Day Event divisions wrapped up with show jumping today at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Mont. The USEA Classic Series offers competitors the opportunity to compete in the traditional long-format of three-day-eventing, and The Event at Rebecca Farm hosts Novice and Training Three-Day divisions, allowing a unique experience for competitors.

Chris Barnard’s show jumping course shook up the CH-J* leaderboard today at the Adequan/FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC) at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Mont. In the end, Area VI came out on top as the 2017 NAJYRC CH-J* Champions after laying down a couple double clear rounds, cumulating a final team score of 161.6.

Leaderboard Shake Up: CICOY2* Scramble Team Takes Home Gold

It was the scramble team of Area I/IV that took home the gold medal in the CICOY2* at the Adequan/FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC) at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Mont. Finishing on a cumulative score of 198, the Area I/IV Team reached a whopping 17.8 lead over silver medal team, Area VII, who finished on a 215.8.

A total field of 20 future event horses came together today for the 2017 USEA Future Event Horse (FEH) West Coast Championships. With eight 3-year-olds, seven 2-year-olds, and three yearlings, as well as two 4-year-olds in the new division, the quality outdid quantity, as the judges were enthusiastic about the horses that showed up to compete today.

Five 4-year-olds and eight 5-year-olds competed in the 2017 USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) West Coast Championship at Woodside International in Woodside, Calif. today. In YEH classes, the competition is based on three scores: conformation (15%), dressage (35%) and jumping (50%).

Thirteen riders competed today in the Adequan USEA Gold Cup CIC3* division at the Woodside International Horse Trials in Woodside, Calif. as well as just one competitor in the Advanced division. The riders completed the dressage test this morning and tackled Michael Roy Curtis’ show jumping course beginning at 5:00 p.m. PDT.

James Alliston and Happenstance jumped clean around Ian Stark’s CIC3* cross-country course to claim the win in the Adequan USEA Gold Cup CIC3* at the Woodside International Horse Trials in Woodside, Calif. today. Just ten of the thirteen CIC3* pairs completed Stark’s course, and seven of those finished without jumping penalties.

Based on feedback from competitors, judges, breeders, owners, and more, the Young Event Horse (YEH) Committee has implemented some significant changes to the YEH program moving forward. Effective immediately, the YEH will have new dressage tests, an entirely new scoring and judging system, and some other significant changes outlined below.
